The upcoming clash in the Super Sixes round of the ICC World Cup Qualifier 2023 will witness an exciting encounter between West Indies (WI) and Oman (OMN) at Harare Sports Club in Harare on July 5.
Currently, West Indies find themselves in the fifth position after suffering defeat in all three of their previous matches. Meanwhile, Oman languishes at the bottom of the table, having also lost all four of their games.
In their recent outing against the Netherlands, Oman won the toss and elected to field. The Netherlands took full advantage of the favorable pitch conditions, amassing a formidable total of 362 runs
Vikramjit Singh's remarkable century earned him the well-deserved Player of the Match award, while Wesley Baressi fell just short of his own century with a brilliant knock of 97 runs.
Rain interrupted the match, leading to a revised target of 321 runs from 44 overs. Despite Ayaan Khan's impressive century, the efforts of the Oman team were in vain as the Netherlands emerged victorious by 74 runs (DLS Method).
On the other hand, West Indies faced off against Scotland in their previous match after losing the toss, and were asked to bat first.
Unfortunately, they got off to a shaky start, losing four wickets with only 30 runs on the board. Although their lower middle order attempted to contribute with some runs, West Indies were ultimately dismissed for a below-par total of 181 runs.
Scotland, having lost an early wicket, formed a commendable partnership for the second wicket that helped them comfortably chase down the target with over six overs remaining.
Brandon McMullen's all-round performance with both bat and ball earned him the well-deserved Player of the Match accolade.
